Quest Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Today is the day!!! I FINALLY received the latest QuestBar flavor…Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough!!! I’ve heard good things and felt like the last person to try this flavor. I waited to try because I wanted to reward myself and enjoy delayed gratification (sometimes). I carefully cut the wrapper open and pulled the seam open.  There is was, in all it’s chocolate chip cookie dough goodness!
At first glance I noticed a lot of chocolate chips. Pulling off a piece, little flakes of chocolate escape my grasp as I engulfed a bit. OMG…YES! It does taste like a Chocolate Chip Cookie! I LOVE it!! A moist, filling, yummy cookie! This is now in my top 5 flavors!

Oh, and 21g of whey protein, 1g sugar, 17g fiber, 3g active carbs, 190 calories.

Quest Pasta

Hi! I’m starting this blog to share different products reviews, nutritious recipes and fitness tips with my friends and family. If you are reading this, chances are you already know me. For anyone that doesn’t know me, I’m an average person. I don’t do fad diets or starve myself. I do believe in moderation, a healthy diet and exercise is the key to improving overall mental and physical health. Everyone has different goals and taste buds, so I will try to be clear and detailed. Please feel free to ask questions, disagree or suggest something better.

It’s no secret I love Quest natural protein bars! I needed a snack I could carry with me that would fill me up and save me from wasting money and empty calories on junk food. They have 12 different flavors; each bar varies a little but contains 20g of whey protein, low active carbs (2-6g), low sugar (3g), gluten free, loads of fiber (16-24g), low calorie (160-210) and taste great. I swear by these and you will see me post them a lot. I included a link to buy them at the bottom of the page.

I love Quest Nutrition, but I will be honest in my reviews and so here goes…

I received a box marked Quest and my heart started to race. Like a hyper child on a Christmas I torn into the box. What could it be???  Digging through the styrofoam peanuts there were two bags, one white and one green…of pasta’s??? I had seen them post some pasta pics in my G+ stream, so quickly scanned the letter and bags. It was two new noodles that are Low Calorie, Zero Fat, Low Carb, and Gluten Free.

The white was a spaghetti 10 calories a serving 2 servings in the bag, it contains 3g or 1% of carbs, fiber 3g or 11% of fiber, compared to 180 minimum calories in normal spaghetti. The green was a spinach fettuccine and contains 20 calories per serving, 4g or 1% of carbs and 4g/14% fiber verse 220 calories and 41g of carbs.

I don’t care for pasta, but love quest bars so thought I’d try it. It only takes a minute to cook…one minute! Ok, so that made it better. I wanted to try the spinach fettuccine, first. It warns of an “ocean” scent due to alkaline water it is packed in. OMG they were not joking! I cut the bag open and memories of fishing with my grandfather in hot sun flashed back…not a pleasant smell. I drained and rinsed, then rinsed some more. I hate fishy smells, I crossed my fingers it would be good and not taste like fish. After the spinach fettuccine was drained I poured it into a bowl and microwaved for 1 minute. I did both servings, thinking I could reheat it later.

Bing it was done! I wanted to taste it totally plain to give an honest review. It was bland, not fishy and tasted kinda like pasta…very chewy. I could taste the spinach. There wasn’t a bad after taste in fact it was pleasant. I added garlic salt and pepper and bam, so much better! The noodles are moist, long, and chewy. The chewiness took a while to get use to. I wish I had added sautéed mushrooms and maybe chicken. I get the feeling the pasta will take on flavor well and will be a good low calorie base for pasta dishes. It was filling; I’m still eating it, granted I had to reheat it because I type slowly. I still don’t like pasta, but if I had a craving and wanted a low calorie version…I’d eat it again.

Cliffs: Spinach Fettuccine~ One min to cook, easy to make, low calorie, carb and gluten free pasta. Chewy, tastes ok, but bland. If you are cutting calories or can’t eat gluten for 3.39 it’s worth a try.

If you are still reading this, THANK YOU and I promise this is longest post I’ll ever write.
